Emergency Contact Information:

  • Telephone number of Hotel Metropolitan Nagano:
  • Remember that the receptionist may not speak English well. The following may help to ease communication:
    • To contact delegate with the family name "Meier" in the hotel room at night, say "ROOM, Meier-SENSEI".
    • To contact conference organizers during the day, mention "NANO-TUBO conference".
(The Japanese will excuse that the above "simple Japanese" is not polite. For the benefit of attendees, "sensei" means "Professor". No need to worry for graduate student attendees if they get addressed as "Professor" by mistake.)

Electric power and plug type used in Japan:

There is 100 V alternate current power supply in Japan. Japanese power plugs are compatible with those used in the U.S./Canada.

For more information about power plug types, see: http://kropla.com/electric2.htm.
