The best way to find information about train travel in Japan including schedules and prices is www.hyperdia.com.

24 April 2015: Post-NT15 excursion
Nagoya, the venue of CCTN15 and NT15, is close to some of the best places in Japan to visit. You can plan your travel on www.hyperdia.com and book your hotel at agoda.com or trivago.com. One of the CCTN15 organizers (DT) plans to visit the following two gems of the Japanese culture and does not mind if you join him (please send email if you are interested).
  • Kyoto (former capital of Japan, 17 UNESCO World Heritage sites) is 35 minutes from Nagoya by "Nozomi" shinkansen (bullet express). Tourist sites are connected by the Kyoto World Heritage Tour Bus.
  • Nara (ancient capital city, 15 UNESCO World Heritage sites) is less than an hour by train from Kyoto. The compact city can be explored on foot; enjoy walking among tame deer near old temples.
